About 143mimi:

Patricia (Mimi) Shine was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in July 2005.  The news was shocking, and my family began to educate ourselves on Pancreatic Cancer. It was not impossible to find information on Pancreatic Cancer, but looking back, we wished we had one place we could have gone to for information.. Needless to say, it was a daunting task.  Our goal for 143mimi.com is to simply provide other individuals and families with an up to date information portal on Pancreatic Cancer.  During your journey, you must remain positive, but most importantly realistic and educated about this cancer. If you are a wife, husband, father, mother, son, daughter, grandchild or friend of someone with Pancreatic Cancer and would like to speak with someone who has been in your position, please email us. A member of the Shine family will gladly share our experience with you.

Now you’re asking yourself about the name. Kids of all ages, but most importantly her grandkids called Patricia “Mimi”.  In Cohasset Massachusetts, there is a famous light house called Minot’s Ledge Light. A place Mimi loved to visit. This lighthouse has a unique flashing pattern of 1-4-3. 1-4-3 translates to “I Love You”. So there it is, 143mimi. A tradition of Mimi’s was to always say “1-4-3” to her grandkids as she said good night to them. I would say that it was the most important tradition she left us, saying I love you.
